Summary / Sažetak
Harald Mori: „Love as a Pathfinder for Authenticity“

In Viktor Frankl’s book „Man’s Search for Meaning“, there is a quote about meaning of love stating: „Love is the only way to grasp another human being in the innermost core of his personality“.
The contribution of Logo therapy (and Existential Analysis) to the phenomenon of love is huge. When a human being, a person (lat.: personare = being infused with spirit) tries to find out who he is and what would be important in his life, this person is in search for meaning.

However, it is not only about search for meaning but also about finding one’s identity and gaining autonomy. The singularity and uniqueness of human existence includes the need to become an authentic individual within society. Expressing one, living in line with what one’s individuality wants to create in this world in the limited lifetime, means to gain the autenthicity.
“You must first love yourself before you can be loved by others” or “You must be convinced of the importance of your life so that other human beings would be convinced of your value”, etc. These quotes clearly express the importance of finding a positive attitude and good feeling of a human being towards himself. The Bible says, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself” what means that a person must first be able to “love” himself.

Psychologically, we would call it a “constructive and positive self-perception or observation”. Logo therapy teaches a person how to live the challenge of self-transcendence in order to reach other people and goals outside of oneself. It is also important to come back, to look for a feedback from others and successfully completed activities in order to develop a healthy self-esteem through love.
